Completed by HOK, Tim Nichols Design Director – Interiors

HOK won a GSA competition to design a new Social Security Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. The 600,000 sf building was designed as a LEED Silver project. The central main street anchors the 8-story tower where double height atria shift and stack to visually connect floors to each other and to allow natural light to penetrate into the work areas. The facility is outfitted with underfloor air distribution, green roofs and a rain collection canopy over the parking deck.
